I joined Jalapeno (UK) Limited as a qualified Financial Advisor in 2016 and I specialise in:

- Protecting client assets & lifestyles
- Tax efficient saving and investing for the future
- Pension scheme consolidation
- Planning for retirement, “at retirement” and “post retirement” advice
- Financing for later-life care.

Having previously enjoyed a career in education at Coventry University and Coventry College, I find I can utilise my teaching skills to explain complex financial legislation in a clear, no-nonsense and jargon-free approach. Whether meeting clients face-to-face, or virtually by video call, I endeavour to ensure that my clients feel comfortable at all times and completely understand the benefits to them of my recommendations.

Outside of financial advice, I am a keen musician and have won international music awards at the Alma Jazz Festival. Additionally, I was the Musical Director of the University of Warwick Big Band and have performed with several other local musical groups over the years. Keeping fit by cycling is something I enjoy, and I have even been known to partake in the odd Latin and ballroom dance competition!

My role as Mortgage and Protection Advisor with Jalapeno (UK) Limited began in July 2012. This followed on from time working for one of the UK’s home service insurers providing where I performed a similar role there. I bring vast experience to the role and aim to support our clients along their entire mortgage and protection needs journey, by offering a full advice and recommendation service.  Every client and their individual needs differ and as I am able to source mortgages products from the ‘whole market’ I can offer options to meet all individual requirements.  Working closely alongside my colleagues within Jalapeno enables us together to offer a holistic service should this be appropriate.  Providing excellent customer service is at the centre of my relationship with all clients.

I qualified as a Mortgage Advisor in 1998 after a career in financial services in a non- advisory role.

In my spare time I like to walk, read and like nothing more than enjoying a good meal with my husband, family and friends’.

I joined Jalapeno (UK) Limited in 2006 as Practice Manager.  I am responsible for the back office day to day efficiencies, ensuring all office operations run smoothly, and providing ongoing support to the adviser team ensuring we deliver outstanding service to our clients.  I have worked within Financial Services for 30 years, starting my career at Stoneleigh Investments and then moving to Coventry Building Society for 17 years. Here I worked within the Investment and Mortgage Intermediary Departments supporting new project developments prior to implementation.

Outside of work I enjoy socialising with family & friends, walking and supporting local charity events by volunteering.

Kate Chown

Previously from an IT background, I moved into the Financial Service sector in 2016. My role is Assistant to Director at Jalapeno (UK) Limited, where I provide administrative support to Craig, primarily on the client liaison and advice side of our operations. As a firm, we are all passionate about providing high levels of service and I play a key part in helping to deliver this. My engagement will be continual throughout the client/advisor relationship but will be particularly prevalent in the early stages as part of our onboarding process.  I support all aspects of Craig’s work and will be your first point of contact for any queries.

Having grown up in Cumbria, I now live in Warwickshire and love movies, yoga, walking, jogging and Ted Talks.

I established Jalapeno (UK) Limited in September 2003 following a 17-year career spent working within the advice divisions of 2 of the UK’s largest insurers. The Practice has been designed to look after the financial planning needs of individuals and business owners and is now a thriving business serving clients in many parts of the UK. As an independent Advice Practice, Jalapeno (UK) Limited has the capability to deliver first class advice and crucially high levels of service. We have embraced technology where possible and this is designed to complement our personal service to clients and investors. I specialise in the Investment and Retirement planning world, which we all know is now highly complex. The business has transitioned over time and I in particular, find myself involved in a lot of the technical pension advice needed to maximise the planning opportunities our clients face.

Joanne Starkey

PARAPLANNER

I have been providing Paraplanning services at Jalapeno (UK) Limited for nearly 10 years. My role consists of conducting research and analysis of the marketplace and the many offerings which exist. This is in sole support of the Advice and recommendations the team deliver to our clients. Using my significant experience, and the many software systems we have within the firm, I provide a report writing service, covering the following areas of advice:-

- All aspects of retirement and drawdown analysis and modelling
- New pension consolidation comparisons
- Defined contribution pension transfers analysis
- Reports on the Annuity market
- Investments including Onshore and Offshore bonds, OEICs/Unit Trusts, NISAs, Structured Products, AIM investments
- Mortgages
- Protection

I hold the Diploma in Financial Planning. Outside of work, I am kept very busy with family life and I enjoy going to the theatre, spa trips, days out, and spending time with friends and family.

Julia Bonsor

BUSINESS & IFA SUPPORT

After initially working in the Fashion industry, I embarked on a 20-year career in Publishing and Communications, firstly as Account Manager and most recently as part of the leadership team within Operations Management.

Moving into Financial Services has given me the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a greater understanding of the sector. I’m very proud to be part of an organisation that understands the importance of providing exceptional levels of service and I look forward to supporting the business and continuing to challenge myself day to day.

My hobbies include Pilates, socialising with friends, eating out, music gigs, volunteering and listening to Podcasts.
